Well that didn’t take long! Just hours after House Republicans revealed their tax cut bill, Joe Manchin has announced that he is opposed.
In opposing this bill, Manchin is opposing a plan that will cut taxes for the average middle-class family by nearly $1,200, doubles the standard deduction, and gives businesses the freedom they need to create jobs and grow the economy. Manchin’s quick decision shows that his loyalty lies with the Washington liberals who run his party, not with West Virginians.
“Joe Manchin’s decision to oppose President Trump’s tax cut plan is a slap in the face to West Virginia families,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “West Virginians want a Senator who will work with President Trump to lower taxes, but Joe Manchin is once again siding with the liberals in Washington who are standing in his way.”
