Joe Manchin sure is taking a turn to the left this week. Yesterday he came out against President Trump’s tax cut plan just hours after it was unveiled. And today he’s bringing Senate Democrat Leader, and proud New York liberal, Chuck Schumer to campaign in Charleston.
Schumer has led the Washington Democrat “resistance” to President Trump’s agenda, blocking cabinet nominees, fighting against the border wall and now leading the charge against middle-class tax cuts. And on every issue, Manchin has been right there with Schumer, voting the party line each time. Indeed, Manchin is even a member of Schumer’s Democrat leadership team in the Senate, despite Joe’s attempts to separate himself from the national Democratic Party. Schumer may not be a popular figure in West Virginia, but at least he’ll always have a place at Joe Manchin’s table.
“Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer have been inseparable in their opposition to President Trump’s agenda over the past ten months, so it makes sense they are campaigning together,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “It’s refreshing that Manchin is no longer trying to hide his loyalty to Washington Democrats like Schumer, as he has been voting with them for years.”
