As Missouri businesses continue to boost employees’ pay in response to the Republican tax relief plan, Claire McCaskill continues to dodge questions about her opposition to tax cuts. But her braver liberal allies are speaking up, calling for repeal of the tax cuts that are putting more money in the pockets of middle-class families.
Claire McCaskill’s Democrat friends, led by failed U.S. Senate candidate Jason Kander, will march in Kansas City tomorrow morning to demand that Congress repeal the Republican tax cuts. While McCaskill has refused to answer questions about why she opposed a bill that directly benefits so many Missouri families, maybe she’ll be more willing to tell voters whether she agrees with Kander and other Missouri Democrats who want the law repealed. Would Claire McCaskill vote to repeal the tax cut? If not, why did she oppose it in the first place?
“With national Democrats calling for the repeal of the tax cuts that are putting more money in Missouri families’ pockets, Claire McCaskill must tell voters where she stands,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “If McCaskill won’t rule out a vote to repeal the Republican tax cuts, she will effectively be running for reelection on a promise to raise taxes on middle-class families.”
