Senate Democrats are openly bragging about their plans to shut down the government and endanger funding for our troops and 8.9 million children who rely on CHIP, but so far Senator Heitkamp has refused to take a position.
As of yesterday, Heitkamp had told reporters, “You tell me what’s coming across (from the House) if anything.” Well, after the House passed a CR last night it’s crystal clear what’s at stake. By voting with Shutdown Chuck Schumer and Washington liberals, Heitkamp will be opposing funding for our troops, a six-year extension of CHIP and a delay in the health insurance tax (HIT), which studies show would raise North Dakotans’ annual health care premiums by $479 on average if implemented.
Heitkamp now has no excuse for her filibustering. North Dakotans deserve to know if they can count on her to fund the government, troops and children’s health care, or if she will continue to stand with Shutdown Chuck Schumer and Washington liberals.
