National Democrats unveiled the latest version of their platform this afternoon, eschewing an economic message, instead focusing on “corruption.”
But Democrats seem to have forgotten about the corruption issues in their own ranks, as one of their proposals tightens the very bribery law that provided disgraced Senator Bob Menendez enough cover to escape prison due to a hung jury. So where does Menendez stand on his fellow Democrats’ proposal? Does he agree that crooks like himself should be locked up?
“Even disgraced Senator Bob Menendez’s Democrat colleagues think he belongs in a jail cell,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Menendez needs to tell New Jerseyans whether he agrees that federal bribery laws need to be strengthened, or if he thinks corrupt politicians like himself should be able to walk free.”
