The Trump administration’s efforts yesterday to overturn the job-killing BLM flaring rule puts a spotlight on Heidi Heitkamp’s failure to stand up for North Dakota’s energy producers and the thousands of hardworking people who rely on the industry for their livelihood.
Heitkamp likes to brag about putting North Dakota first, but when given the chance, Heitkamp was the deciding vote to keep the Obama-era BLM flaring rule in place. Her decision forced the job producers that have turned North Dakota into an economic powerhouse to deal with millions of dollars in unnecessary regulatory costs.
It’s no wonder Heitkamp supported presidential candidate Hillary Clinton who infamously said, “By the time we get through all of my conditions, I do not think there will be many places in America where fracking will continue to take place.”
“Instead of supporting North Dakota, Heidi Heitkamp cowered to coastal donors and Washington liberals to block the repeal of this onerous legislation,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “North Dakota voters are ready to hold Heitkamp accountable for failing to support their interests when they needed her most.”
