It’s a busy day in Arizona, but wanted to make sure you didn’t miss this new report on how Mark Kelly cashed in as a consultant for the air ambulance industry, which has been accused of “surprise medical billing” and “price gouging.”
Despite his campaign pledge to “lower health care costs,” Kelly’s financial disclosure reveals he was paid $20,000 for his work with the company and holds investments worth up to $500,000:
“Financial filings show that Arizona Senate candidate Mark Kelly served as a consultant for, and on the board of, Arizona-based air ambulance company Angel MedFlight from 2015 to 2019 as an ‘aviation expert.’ Kelly served on the board of the company’s subsidiary, Alacura Medical Transportation Management, from 2016 to 2018. The air ambulance industry as a whole has faced controversy for ‘surprise medical billing’ and ‘price gouging,’ and Angel MedFlight is no exception.”
“It seems Mark Kelly’s scripted talking points on health care never match up with how he’s made himself rich in the private sector,” said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “All it takes is a quick look at Kelly’s record to be exposed as a complete phony, and unfortunately for him, Arizonans will find out all about it.”
Kelly has faced previous criticism for his hypocritical health care positions, including a TV ad on “politicians” that “look the other way” when taking money from drug companies despite his own personal and political financial ties to the pharmaceutical industry.
