The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Senator Russ Feingold is under fire for having his shady slush fund buy copies of his own book as a means of bilking donors for even more money:
Johnson is criticizing Progressives United for selling off copies of Feingold’s book, "While America Sleeps: A Wake-up Call for the Post-9/11 Era," for $100 donations and giving away special edition, leather-bound, autographed copies to three supporters back in 2011 to raise money for the PAC.
Johnson, a Republican, has suggested that his Democratic foe founded Progressives United and its partner organization, Progressives United Inc., "to pay himself and his staff millions" between elections while giving little to candidates.
During his 18 years in Washington, Senator Feingold wrote the book on campaign finance reform; decades later, Mr. Clean’s PAC bought his leather-bound ones to scam donors.
What’s the only thing lower than the current value of Senator Feingold’s book on Amazon? (One penny)
Using a slush fund to line your own pockets.

Bice: Johnson raps Feingold on book offer
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
By Daniel Bice
November 3, 2016
With just days left in the campaign, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson is returning to one of his first campaign themes:
Pounding his opponent, former U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold, over his political action committee, Progressives United.
Now, Johnson is criticizing Progressives United for selling off copies of Feingold’s book, "While America Sleeps: A Wake-up Call for the Post-9/11 Era," for $100 donations and giving away special edition, leather-bound, autographed copies to three supporters back in 2011 to raise money for the PAC.
Johnson, a Republican, has suggested that his Democratic foe founded Progressives United and its partner organization, Progressives United Inc., "to pay himself and his staff millions" between elections while giving little to candidates. Feingold has said the groups provided direct and indirect candidate backing while engaging in issue advocacy.
"This is the height of Senator Feingold’s Washington elitism — buying leather-bound copies of his own book to bilk supporters out of more money to line his pockets and build his shadow campaign," said Brian Reisinger, spokesman for Johnson.
"After presenting himself as Mr. Campaign Finance Reform for decades," Reisinger continued, "Senator Feingold is finally being unmasked as a phony and a hypocrite whose is willing to say or do anything to return to Washington."
