Washington, D.C. – Last week, NRSC Chairman Rick Scott awarded the ‘Champion for Freedom’ award to former Senator and Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) Chairman Norm Coleman and RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks for their leadership and commitment to helping win critical U.S. Senate races over their many years in their respective roles.

The RJC has played critical roles in Senate victories including Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas over the past few cycles. Recently, the RJC touted its efforts in the Virginia gubernatorial race where an exit poll by the American Jewish Congress showed an uptick in Jewish voters supporting Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin.

Statement from Chairman Rick Scott: “As Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, I am honored to be able to present this award to recognize accomplished individuals across the country who fight for democracy and freedom. That is exactly what Chairman Coleman and Executive Director Brooks have done while leading the Republican Jewish Coalition.

“While I never got to serve in the Senate with Senator Coleman, I have always admired him. Senator Coleman was and continues to be a fierce advocate for limited government and peace and prosperity for America and Israel. Matt has served the Republican Jewish coalition since 1990 and has fostered it to grow from a small group that could fit around a kitchen table to one of the largest, most influential groups in the country engaged on issues of freedom and democracy. Both leaders have dedicated their lives to making America a better, safer and stronger country and it’s an honor and pleasure to work with them and recognize them with this award.”

Past award recipients include Miram and Sheldon Adelson and former NRSC Chair Sen. Rudy Boschwitz.
