Keeping with his time-honored tradition of letting Iran off the hook, Patrick Murphy just voted to greenlight ransom payments to the world’s largest state sponsor of terror.
After President Obama’s own administration revealed that his $1.7 billion cash payment was contingent on the release of prisoners, Senator Marco Rubio took swift action by introducing a bill to prohibit future ransom payments to the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism.
Similar legislation that Murphy just voted against in the House "makes clear that the Obama Administration violated longstanding U.S. policy by releasing prisoners and paying ransom for the return of Americans held hostage by Iran; prohibits cash payments to Iran—period; demands transparency on future settlements to ensure they are not used to pay ransom."
When asked if he could guarantee that ransom payments would not fund terrorist activities, Murphy dodged the question. That’s not surprising – a recent report revealed that at least $37 million of Obama’s ransom payment will fund global terrorism.
Will Patrick Murphy stop at anything to make President Obama’s dangerous diplomacy a higher priority than the safety and security of Florida families?
