Washington, D.C. – Across the country, students are falling behind because of the moral failures of Democrat politicians. Students deserve the best education possible, and parents have a right to make the best decision for their children. Democrats have become the party that supports unions rather than students and opposes school choice. It is time for Democrats to stop taking orders from their teachers union paymasters and start fighting for what is best for our children. Republicans are committed to winning back the majority in November so we have leaders in Washington who will stand up for students.

Statement from Chairman Rick Scott: “As a father and grandfather, I know firsthand that every child learns differently and should have the opportunity to attend a school that best fits their needs. This National School Choice Week, we recommit to efforts to fight for every student and recognize that parents should have the opportunity to make decisions for their kids. No matter what zip code you live in, every student should be able to get the same great education. I am working to make sure Republicans take back the Senate majority with leaders in Washington who will be a voice for our parents and students.”

Statement from Senator Mike Lee of Utah: “The pandemic has made clearer than ever that it’s time we stop funding an education system that excludes parents and hurts disadvantaged children. Instead, we need to ensure that our education funds are actually made available to students and families of all stripes and that they are empowered to use them in a way that best meets their unique needs.”

Statement from Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina: “A child’s zip code or household income should not determine the quality of their education. School choice puts parents in the driver’s seat where they belong. When parents have a choice, all kids win.”

Statement from Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin: “National School Choice Week is a time to celebrate how families benefit from having the ability to choose the type of education that is best for their children. This choice has never been so important. With parents fighting to keep their kids in school throughout COVID-19 or to have a say in what they’re children are being taught, now is the time to empower parents’ control of their child’s education. Americans should be free to choose what will set their children up for success in the future.”
