Unable to give an honest answer about where he lives and what he does for a living, Bayh has resorted to running a new ad assuring Hoosiers that no, really, he’s not a lobbyist.
Sorry, Senator. When your employer (a lobbying firm) is bragging about your work (lobbying), well, you’re a lobbyist.
As WISH-TV in Indianapolis reported, “Evan Bayh and the Democrats are trying to change the subject.” But Bayh barely seems able to sell his spin to the chairman of the Indiana Democrats, who was barely able to grit his way through his talking points when talking to a WISH reporter:
“And that gets to the other attack on Bayh, the Young description of him as a super lobbyist.
“‘It’s a clever way to point out that Todd Young is lying about the fact that Evan Bayh is a lobbyist,’ said State Democratic Chairman John Zody about the Bayh ad, ‘which he’s not.’” (Jim Shella, “Senate Ads Focus On Where Bayh Lives,” WISH, 9/15/16)
WISH also reports that Republicans are continuing to hold Bayh accountable for his residency problems and his lobbying career:

Unfortunately for Bayh, he still has a lot of questions to answer about why he left Hoosiers behind to get rich as a Washington insider – but we look forward to more laughable ads claiming just the opposite.
