House Hunter Evan Bayh currently lives in a swanky multi-million dollar house in Georgetown, but now, he’s on the market for a new home. His job requires him to move back to Indiana, and since he’s not looking forward to moving back to the Hoosier State, he really wants to find a house to make him feel like he’s at his real home in his luxurious DC estate.

House #1 – Indiana Condo

The Indiana condo was much, much smaller than what Bayh was used to, but at least the property is in the state his job is currently in. He only needs the house until November – just long enough to run for Senate before returning to his Washington lobbyist job November 9.

Since Bayh spent years making millions lobbying, he can afford his DC home and live there while also paying rent on the condo. He probably wouldn’t get a chance to know his Hoosier neighbors, but he could stay plugged into his existing DC community, which is important to him.

House #2 – State-Ambiguous Main Street Home

Again, this home seems to be much smaller than the 6 bedroom/5 bathroom DC home, but it does offer a front porch and the appearance of a normal, working class home. When touring the home, Bayh even changed out of his fancy suit and tie and decided to sport a denim button up to really match the modest house’s ambience.

House #3 – State-Ambiguous Basketball Court

Evan Bayh’s kids really took a liking to this home. The house had a basketball hoop they enjoyed. We can’t be sure this home is in Indiana, but his kids are wearing Indiana Pacers and Indiana State Sycamores shirts. It seems the sons are overcompensating for their location, so we assume the home is not in Indiana.

This house is still just not as swanky looking as the Georgetown home, though.

Final Pick: Indiana Condo

In the end, Bayh chose the Indiana condo because he couldn’t give up his DC mansion. We went back to the condo to ask Evan Bayh how his new house was working out. We couldn’t find him, but his neighbors did have some things to say about him:

Over on the East Coast, his DC neighbors have still seen him quite a bit around the neighborhood:

The Indiana condo fit Evan Bayh’s very unique need of being able to claim Indiana property without actually living there. He couldn’t be happier living in the same city he’s lived in since cashing out of the Senate. Bayh clearly knows the first rule of real estate is "location, location, location!"
