Bad news for New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, as a federal judge refused to throw out any of the 18 criminal charges of bribery and corruption brought against him. As NJ Advance Media details:
“A federal judge on Monday refused to dismiss any of the 18 criminal counts against U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez and Florida ophthalmologist Salomon Melgen, clearing the way for the pair’s bribery trial to enter the defense phase.”
If convicted, the Senator faces major prison time, with each of the eight bribery charges alone carrying up to 15 years in prison.
Rightfully 84% of New Jersey voters say Menendez should resign if convicted, but not one Democrat has said they agree.
Think about that for a second.
Democrats, cannot say whether a sitting Senator should resign if convicted of criminal bribery and corruption. Ridiculous.
And, it gets even worse. Not only have Democrats refused to call out their scandal-ridden comrade, but several Senate Democrats gave campaign cash to Menendez even AFTER his indictment.
Menendez has also contributed money through his leadership PAC to several Senate Democrats facing reelection.
