Washington, D.C – Last week, Senator James Lankford (R-OK) released a report on over $2 billion of taxpayer money that is being paid to Department of Defense contractors NOT to finish construction on border security measures. These contractors are being paid billions to babysit steel that is supposed to be used to plug holes in the not-yet-completed barrier. Meanwhile, in June alone, 180,000 migrants tried to illegally cross our Southern Border.

$10 billion has already been obligated to border wall projects and now, President Biden and his allies in the Democrat Senate are willing to dump another $2 billion to pay contractors to be metal babysitters.

This weekend, former New Hampshire Senator Kelly Ayotte echoed what a lot of Granite Staters are feeling: Where is Senator Maggie Hassan, who sits on the Senate Homeland Security Committee, on this issue and others pertaining to border security?  She told the New Hampshire Journal

“Let’s face it: As a Senator, there are fundamental issues — especially on the committees you serve on — that impact not only New Hampshire but the nation… And then also what’s happening at our southern border. These are all really important issues… I think it’s a matter of where does she stand on securing the border, and the [border] crisis? I mean, unfortunately there, it’s not a safe situation down there for children.”

Senator Ayotte is right. Hassan’s silence is deafening.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “As the crisis at our southern border continues to put local communities, law enforcement, and migrant children at risk, Democrat Senators like Maggie Hassan support spending billions of dollars to pay contractors authorized to complete border wall construction to do nothing.  As a member of the Homeland Security Committee, Maggie Hassan’s silence on our border crisis is incomprehensible to New Hampshire voters.  Now, as billions of taxpayer dollars are being wasted to stop people from doing their jobs, it’s time for Hassan to step up and be heard. Sadly, given her history of hiding from tough issues, that is unlikely.”
