Joe Manchin is still refusing to come clean on his involvement in a shady hotel deal, and is instead sending an attorney to tell reporters that Manchin doesn’t regard the matter “as the basis for any discussion of the senator’s financial matters.” But there remain several serious, unanswered questions about Manchin’s involvement that West Virginians are owed answers to.

When did Manchin and Mylan lobbyist Larry Puccio sell their interest in Mountain Blue Hotel Group?
New filings in Mountain Blue’s bankruptcy case contradict loan documents that list Manchin’s AA Property as an owner of the company. When did this arrangement change? Was it before or after the story about the failing hotel deal broke?

How much money did Manchin and Puccio receive for their stake in the company when and if they sold?
Given the severe financial problems Mountain Blue is facing, what was Manchin’s stake valued at? Did he receive fair market value?

Do Manchin and Puccio still have an ownership stake in Mountain West Hospitality?
Mountain Blue is only one of the failed hotel companies Manchin was listed as a stakeholder in. Did he sell both investments?

Did Manchin and Puccio receive payments from Mountain Blue while the company failed to pay taxes, employees, and creditors?
Manchin reported receiving $11,200.18 in income from AA Property in 2016. Was he receiving payment even as his hotel businesses failed to meet their financial obligations?

Why has Manchin repeatedly lied to reporters to dodge questions about his investment in these hotels?
Manchin denied being an owner of AA Property, despite listing the company on his financial disclosure. He also has claimed that AA Property is part of his blind trust despite that being completely false. Why does he continue to lie about this investment?
