If anyone thought Sherrod Brown might finally show some independence today on CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State: think again.

Instead, Brown doubled down on his party’s blind obstructionism, voting to block Mike Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State, and put loyalty to his liberal Democratic bosses above the national security interests of the nation. While such a favor to Chuck Schumer may pay off with the “resisters” and the radical left-wing base, Ohio voters will most assuredly be turned off by such thoughtless partisan antics.

“By refusing to stand up to his liberal party bosses — even on issues of national security – Sherrod Brown proved all his talk of independent leadership is a total fraud,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “If Brown is going to put his loyalty to the extreme left over the security concerns of our nation, he should just save the voters some trouble and start packing up his office now.”
