If anyone thought Tina Smith might finally show some independence today on CIA Director Mike Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State: think again.
Instead, Smith doubled down on her party’s blind obstructionism, voting to block Mike Pompeo’s confirmation as Secretary of State, and put loyalty to her liberal Democratic bosses above the national security interests of the nation. While such a favor to Chuck Schumer may pay off with the “resisters” and the radical left-wing base, Minnesota voters will most assuredly be turned off by such thoughtless partisan antics.
“By refusing to stand up to her liberal party bosses — even on issues of national security – Tina Smith proved all her talk of independent leadership is a total fraud,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “If Smith is going to put her loyalty to the extreme left over the security concerns of our nation, she should just save the voters some trouble and start packing up her office now.”
