American unemployment just matched a half-century low, set all the way back in 1969.
But not only did unemployment decrease to 3.8%, the economy added 223,000 new jobs in May, an even better spike than economists expected. As the job market improves, so does worker pay. American average hourly wages rose by 0.3% in May, adding to a nearly 3% gain within the past year. And today, Costco announced that it would raise its minimum wage and increase pay for its 130,000 workers, crediting the GOP tax cuts for the decision. Amid all the good news, it’s no surprise American economic optimism is at a record high.
With all this great economic news, will red state Democrats tell voters if they plan to join their colleagues calling for a repeal of the tax cuts? Or will they finally come to their senses and realize the American economy is on the rise?
