Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer welcomes the Senate back this week to waste time voting on two bills that have no chance of passing.  As it was described yesterday, “There is not a legislative strategy to succeed at this point. There is a political strategy to get caught trying.”

In other words, Chuck Schumer is staging votes on federalizing elections, banning voter ID, and forcing taxpayers to fund their political campaigns merely for political purposes. He knows these bills can’t pass, since multiple Senators in his caucus do not favor abolishing the filibuster.  It is a fight he can’t win

But why is Schumer so preoccupied with appeasing the radical Left when he could be working to advance bipartisan goals?  The answer is that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and her shadow, are cast over every move he makes.

According to the Wall Street Journal:

“While she didn’t mention Mr. Schumer by name, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) criticized top Democrats after their social-policy and climate package—known as “Build Back Better”—stalled, saying they gave too much leverage to Mr. Manchin… The prominent progressive last year declined to rule out a run against Mr. Schumer, but she hasn’t made any public moves toward getting in the race. A spokeswoman for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez didn’t respond to a request for comment, and Mr. Schumer’s office declined to comment on the prospect of a challenge. Mr. Schumer in the past has said he wasn’t focused on a primary challenge.”

Chuck Schumer will make his most vulnerable members walk the plank on unpopular bills with no hope of passage because he is afraid of losing his own job.  Americans are running away from the Democrat Party and Chuck Schumer could care less.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “AOC owns every inch of valuable real estate in Chuck Schumer’s brain.  She haunts him in his sleep and she haunts him during his day job.  As things go from bad to worse for the Democrat Party, Chuck Schumer is stepping on the gas and steering his caucus straight for an iceberg.  By voting on bills with no chance of passage in an act of self-preservation, and jeopardizing his most vulnerable members in the process, Chuck Schumer has proven himself to be the most selfish man in Washington.”
