In Florida alone, both Aetna and UnitedHealth have announced they are either leaving the state’s exchange completely or significantly scaling back their health plans due to the financial burdens put in place by Obamacare.
And instead of addressing those failures, Patrick Murphy apparently wants more of them. As the system collapses upon itself, Murphy, for some reason, calling for more government regulations, greater cost to taxpayers, and an expansion of the Obamacare disaster:
“Patrick Murphy says if he is elected to the U.S. Senate in November, he’ll push to provide a public option to the Affordable Care Act… Passed six years ago, the Affordable Care Act (a/k/a Obamacare) still divides the country and the Congress.…Democrats have stood by it for the most part, but even some of the law’s biggest supporters say it needs to an overhaul.” (Mitch Perry, “Patrick Murphy Says He’ll Push For Public Option To Be Added To ACA If Elected To The Senate,” FloridaPolitics.com, 8/29/16)
As Floridians are dealing with the consequences of Obamacare’s failures, and families are facing the prospect of losing their coverage, Murphy’s only solution is to double down. Florida can do better than a hapless politician who looks at a failing government program and decides the best solution is to make it more costly and more expansive.
