As the Senate voted on legislation yesterday to crack down on sanctuary cities, Kander was asked whether he would support the effort or if he would back cities that refuse to comply with federal immigration laws. Kander refused to respond, claiming he didn’t have time to review the measure being debated in far-off Washington.

“Even before the vote, Missouri Republicans issued press releases asking how Secretary of State Jason Kander, Blunt’s Democrat opponent, on how he would vote on the bill… Kander didn’t answer. Abe Rakov, a Kander spokesman, said that ‘Secretary Kander is focused on his job and hasn’t had an opportunity to review the legislation being debated in Washington.’”

Kander always seems to have plenty of time for Washington when lobbyists are lining his pockets. He’s frequently caught rubbing elbows with some of the capital’s most well-connected insiders, but when it’s time for him to take a stand on what’s happening in Washington on behalf of Missouri families, Kander can’t be bothered.
That’s about as funny as a screen door on a battleship.
