Washington, D.C. – The hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan and subsequent rapid surrender to the Taliban was an unmitigated disaster. It resulted in the death of 13 U.S. servicemembers, the abandonment of over 100 U.S. citizens and the majority of allied Afghans behind enemy lines, a donation of $212 million worth of U.S. military equipment to the Taliban, and the international community questioning our resolve throughout the world.
Any rational observer of the situation would conclude that President Biden botched the Afghanistan withdrawal. But not failed presidential candidate Michael Bennet. Senator Bennet has been awfully quiet on the subject, trying desperately not to appear critical.
In fact, when asked directly if President Biden’s withdrawal has been effective, Bennet said we need to wait and see before we make an assessment. Which begs the question: What more does he need to see? More footage of the Taliban committing atrocities or flaunting our surrendered military commitment?
Out of touch answers like that may be why his staff is telling reporters he is doesn’t have time to answer any questions on Afghanistan…

It’s clear he doesn’t want to criticize the President in the face of overwhelming horror and prefers to remain in the shadows. Coloradans have come to expect this kind of weak, ineffective leadership in the U.S. Senate from Michael Bennet. But, when it comes to matters of war and peace, Bennet’s irrelevance will eventually catch up to him.”
