Sleepin’ Joe Donnelly woke up from his nap long enough to announce his support for President Trump’s meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. That sure is a change of tune from what Sleepin’ Joe was saying last fall.
Last September, Sleepin’ Joe took to the Senate floor to offer what the Indy Star called a “blistering critique” of the President’s handling of North Korea, calling President Trump’s maneuvering “chaos and disarray.” But just a few months later, it’s clear that Sleepin’ Joe was wrong, as President Trump was able to get North Korea to the table to discuss nuclear disarmament.
This is just the latest foreign policy blunder for Sleepin’ Joe, who also got it wrong with former President Obama’s disastrous Iran deal, which he said was “right for America,” and who endorsed the architect of the Iran Deal, failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, because of her foreign policy experience. Maybe Sleepin’ Joe should go back to bed and leave the foreign policy to folks who know what they’re doing.
