As Bernie Sanders visits North Carolina today, the Democratic front runners in the states’ Senate primary are committing to supporting their Party’s presidential nominee — no matter who wins. Sanders is fresh off wins in his Party’s first two nominating contests and is the clear leader of their Party.
“After months of refusing to give any indication who they’d be supporting in their Party’s presidential primary, Erica Smith and Cal Cunningham have finally admitted they would support a renowned socialist as their Party’s nominee,” said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “Smith’s and Cunningham’s willingness to go along with Bernie Sanders’ radical socialist platform to raise taxes and eliminate the employer-based health insurance of over 4.7 million North Carolinians is exactly why they will lose this November.”
