Phil Bredesen is out with a new TV ad, and unsurprisingly, he completely misremembers his record as Governor. Bredesen brags that he fixed TennCare and ended the budget crisis without an income tax or raising the sales tax, but the actual outcomes of both claims differ greatly from his distorted reality.
Instead of fixing TennCare, Bredesen simply scrapped coverage for 450,000 children and adults during his tenure. But that’s not the ad’s only misleading claim. Bredesen also raised taxes and fees on Tennesseans by nearly $1 billion.
“Once again, Phil Bredesen is touting his tenure without a care in the world for the truth,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “After already getting caught in a lie twice this week, it’s clear Bredesen’s word means absolutely nothing.”
