As President Trump prepares to discuss rural prosperity today in Tennessee, voters deserve to know where Phil Bredesen stands on the GOP tax bill.

Bredesen so far has failed to take a position on the tax cut legislation that is increasing Tennesseans’ paychecks, and has businesses across the country handing out employee bonuses, increasing wages, and expanding charitable donations. Right here in Tennessee, First Horizon National Corp. will provide $1,000 bonuses to employees who didn’t already take part in the company-sponsored bonus plan, joining more than one hundred other companies across the country who have made similar investments in their workers. Tennessee voters should be wondering why Bredesen has remained silent on an issue that is putting more money in their pockets.

“While Tennesseans are enjoying the economic benefits delivered by Republicans, Phil Bredesen is caught between maintaining his allegiance to national Democrats and their intention to campaign against tax cuts in 2018, and doing what’s best for voters,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “With President Trump coming to Tennessee, folks deserve to know if they can count on Phil Bredesen to support the historic reforms the President has implemented to save Tennessee families and businesses money.”
