Phil Bredesen officially announced he’s running for U.S. Senate today, and national Democrats couldn’t be happier. Bredesen is exactly the type of big government liberal national Democrats love.

Bredesen’s career has been a master class in failed Democratic policies. While he was Governor, Bredesen implemented disastrous immigration policies, weakened 2nd Amendment protections, and by the time he left the Governor’s mansion, he had raised taxes and fees by nearly $1 billion. No wonder he and Barack Obama are such good friends! But when Bredesen wasn’t raising costs on hardworking Tennesseans, he was raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for national Democrats like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In a state Donald Trump won by 26 points, Bredesen’s liberal record is a red flag for Tennessee voters.

“Obama-loving liberal Phil Bredesen doesn’t have a clue if he thinks Tennesseans want anything to do with his out-of-touch policies,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “In a state that hasn’t elected a Democratic Senator since 1990, Bredesen’s chances for victory are slim to none.”
