Claire McCaskill is treating her job in the Senate like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer must know she has a weak spot when it comes to her work on veterans’ issues because his Super PAC, Majority Forward, is out with a multi-million dollar ad buy praising Claire McCaskill’s work on behalf of veterans.
You see, from 2007-2016, McCaskill has been AWOL from her duties serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee and Senate Homeland Security Committee. She failed to show up to 60% of her Senate Armed Services Committee hearings, missing 220 out of 368 hearings. Her record on the Senate Homeland Security Committee is even worse. She’s missed 66% of the committee’s hearings, failing to appear at 342 out of 521 hearings.
So why couldn’t Claire make time to do her job over the past 10 years? Her schedule didn’t stop her from stumping on behalf of Hillary Clinton, touring the country promoting her own book, and appearing routinely on Morning Joe.
“It’s clear Claire McCaskill would rather talk the talk than walk the walk when it comes to doing her job on behalf of our nation’s military and veterans,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “Missourians deserve more than an absentee legislator. No employer would tolerate such a horrible attendance record and Missouri’s voters are no different.”
