While Joe Manchin has been telling unemployed West Virginians it’s their own fault they don’t have jobs, his favorite company, Fentanyl manufacturer Mylan, is laying off West Virginians just in time for the holidays.

Late last week, Mylan announced they were laying off 200-300 employees, including a number at two Monongalia County facilities. One employee who won’t find herself in the unemployment line is Manchin’s daughter, Mylan CEO Heather Bresch, who watched her salary soar from $2.4 million to nearly $19 million while the company peddled opioids and increased the price of EpiPens from $100 to $600. In addition to Manchin’s family connection, the Senator has several personal ties to the company. Mylan is Manchin’s second biggest campaign donor, and Mylan lobbyist Larry Puccio serves as senior advisor to Manchin’s campaign.

“If Joe Manchin really wants to fight for jobs, he should give his daughter a call and ask her to stop firing West Virginians,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “It’s clear that Manchin is only interested in using his considerable influence with Mylan to pad his campaign account.”
