Yesterday Bob Casey announced he would oppose President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court hours before he knew who the nominee was, bizarrely explaining he was offended that the pick would come off of a list of candidates that included several judges Casey had himself previously voted for. Casey doubled down today, saying he’d be willing to waste Judge Kavanaugh’s time with a meeting but that he wouldn’t change his mind.

But this afternoon we’re closer to a coherent explanation for Casey’s kneejerk obstructionism as #resistance favorite and California Senator Kamala Harris announced she would travel to Pennsylvania to raise money for her colleague’s reelection campaign. Harris has become the favorite 2020 contender of the far left with her extreme anti-Trump rhetoric, making her a perfect match for Senator Casey.

But as Casey auditions to be Harris’s 2020 running mate, Pennsylvanians are still left wondering how a self-described moderate could decide to oppose a Supreme Court nominee before he was even named.
