Despite Democrat outside groups trying to defend Chris Pappas from his connections to corporate interests and registered lobbyists, the New Hampshire Union Leader exposed Pappas’ hypocrisy on the issue.
From the story:
Shot: “For several years, Pappas has called for regulating stock ownership by members of Congress and limiting corporate special interest influence.”
Chaser: “At week’s end, the Washington Free Beacon reported that Bentley [Pappas’s spouse] serves in an executive policy role with Uber and that the couple own between $150,000 to $350,000 in Uber shares and between $15,000 to $50,000 in Amazon stock through Bentley’s 401(k) account. Pappas sits on the House Transportation Committee that regulates the ride sharing industry and is a committee that Uber lobbies according to federal records. The publication reported lobbyists for Uber have contributed $5,250 so far to Pappas’s Senate campaign.”
