WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Senate is expected to vote on funding the federal government. Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH) already voted to shut down the government in the U.S. House and furlough 5,208 New Hampshire workers. There’s no doubt he would vote with Chuck Schumer if elected to the Senate. Senate Democrats are holding the government hostage for radical demands that include $1.5 trillion in new spendingfunding free healthcare for illegal immigrants, and cutting $50 billion in funding for rural hospitals provided by the Working Family Tax Cuts.

“Chuck Schumer and the entire Democrat Party are holding the federal government hostage in a ridiculous attempt to force their woke wish list on Americans,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Samantha Cantrell. “Despite supporting continuing resolutions in the past, Chris Pappas voted to shut the government down in the House of Representatives, and there is no question he would support Schumer’s shutdown if elected to the Senate. Democrats are putting critical government services and pay for service members on hold just to give illegal aliens free healthcare.”

Chris Pappas supports Chuck Schumer’s ridiculous government shutdown:

  • Chris Pappas voted against the Continuing Resolution in the House of Representatives.
  • In 20212022, and 2023, when Joe Biden was President, Chris Pappas voted in favor of continuing resolutions to keep the government open and working for the American people.

Schumer’s Shutdown would:

Democrats are demanding $1.5 trillion in spending increases to end the shutdown and:

  • Cut $50 billion in rural healthcare funding
  • Restore Biden-era free healthcare for illegal aliens
  • Expand taxpayer-funded Medicaid to unemployed, able-bodied individuals without dependents under 14 years old
  • Eliminate Republican-passed fraud protections for taxpayer benefits like Medicaid and SNAP
