“Whether it’s driving up healthcare costs to the highest in the nation, releasing thousands of hardened criminals, or welcoming socialism with open arms, Roy Cooper puts North Carolinians last,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
Reporter: “There’s this view in Washington that you kind of have this race in the bag. But the polls actually show that this is actually a tightening race.”
Cooper: “It really is.”
Reporter: “So what has changed here on the ground?”
Cooper: “… North Carolina hasn’t elected a Democrat in almost two decades, and only two in almost the last 40 years.
“So it’s tough for a Democrat to win a U.S. Senate seat in North Carolina. This is going to be anywhere from a 1[%] to 3% race.”
