Claire McCaskill has come to the (pretty obvious) conclusion that her close ties to the left have become a serious problem for her in Missouri. She’s trying her best to distance herself from “those crazy Democrats,” even going so far as to talk about how Elizabeth Warren “went after” her because of her views.
Like most McCaskill statements, this of course is nonsense. Elizabeth Warren has been a key booster of McCaskill, donating $10,000 to her reelection campaign and sending fundraising emails on her behalf as recently as last month. And when it’s not the week before an election, the feeling is mutual, with McCaskill tweeting her admiration of the Massachusetts liberal, calling her “strong, smart and focused.”
“Claire McCaskill’s attempts to distance herself from ‘crazy Democrats’ are laughable,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Though it may be inconvenient while she’s running for reelection in a deep red state, McCaskill has no problem cashing campaign checks from Elizabeth Warren and other crazy Dems and it’s far too late for her to change course.”
