After House Republicans passed their historic tax relief bill, the spotlight turns to the Senate. And Heidi Heitkamp will have to make a decision on whether she will vote to give North Dakotans a tax cut or join Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats in their political games.
In the coming weeks, the Senate will take up their own tax relief bill and Heitkamp will be asked to vote on legislation that is estimated to create nearly 1 million new jobs, and for which the middle class will be the biggest winner. Heitkamp’s choice is clear – stand with North Dakota families or with Washington liberals.
“Heidi Heitkamp should think long and hard about whether she’s willing to side with Democrats in Washington instead of giving a tax cut to her own constituents,” said NRSC Spokesman Michael McAdams. “If Heitkamp won’t break from her party on something as easy as tax cuts, it will be clear she values the approval of her fellow Democrats more than that of North Dakotans.”
