After House Republicans passed their historic tax relief bill, the spotlight turns to the Senate. And Jon Tester will have to make a decision on whether he will vote to give Montanans a tax cut or join Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats in their political games.
In the coming weeks, the Senate will take up their own tax relief bill and Tester will be asked to vote on legislation that is estimated to create nearly 1 million new jobs, and for which the middle class will be the biggest winner. Tester’s choice is clear – stand with Montana families or with Washington liberals.
“Jon Tester should think long and hard about whether he’s willing to side with Democrats in Washington instead of giving a tax cut to his own constituents,” said NRSC Communications Director Katie Martin. “If Tester won’t break from his party on something as easy as tax cuts, it will be clear he values the approval of his fellow Democrats more than that of Montanans.”
