Tammy Duckworth, it seems, no longer looks forward to "getting the truth out."

Instead, Duckworth will heed the very instructions she once ordered to a VA whistleblower:

"…keep your mouth shut…"

The Chicago Tribune reports on the desperate lengths to which the Rod Blagojevich appointee appears willing to go as to avoid testifying at her August whistleblower retaliation trial:

The two-term congresswoman has said she wanted the truth to come out, but has declined discussing specifics because of the pending litigation. Her campaign declined comment Wednesday. But in a new twist on the case, the court docket shows that a pretrial settlement conference has been scheduled for Friday. Duckworth is being represented by the Illinois attorney general’s office.

Tomorrow morning, Duckworth’s taxpayer-funded legal defense team will head back to the Union County Courthouse to attend a settlement conference.

If Tammy Duckworth truly believes that she is innocent – and therefore, if she truly believes that she never threatened and harassed the courageous VA employees who blew the whistle on the abuse of veterans, why would she settle?
