Demings Turned her Back on Law Enforcement; Now Uses Them for Political Gain

Washington, D.C. – Florida Congresswoman Val Demings is officially on the air touting nothing she has done during her time in Congress. Now that Florida Senator Marco Rubio has received the endorsement of Florida’s Sheriffs and Police Chiefs and the Florida Police Benevolent Association, she’s regretting distancing herself from her law enforcement background, as she did when she was vying to be Joe Biden’s Vice President.

In her new ad, she attempts to remind people of her experience and suddenly is trying to run away from her party and oppose defunding the police. But too little too late.

  • In 2020, Demings “who has touted her policing career as an asset for a potential national run, has sought to recast herself from law enforcement champion to critic.”
  • In June 2020, Demings calls the idea of dismantling and defunding the police “very thoughtful.”

But don’t just take it from us, take it from the Florida’s law enforcement officers who have felt abandoned by “Chief” Val Demings despite her attempts to say otherwise.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Priscilla Ivasco: “Val Demings picks and chooses when she uses her law enforcement background when it is politically advantageous to her. That isn’t the kind of leader Floridians want. Floridians respect their law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect their communities. Unfortunately, Val Demings went to Washington and abandoned Florida’s law enforcement community. No matter how she tries to spin it, Floridians won’t forget about her hypocrisy when they head to the ballot box in November.”
