Senate Republicans are standing up for families and fighting to advance Jon Husted’s Ratepayer Protection Act, but Chuck Schumer’s Democrats are obstructing progress and playing games.
“Senate Republicans are making AI companies and data centers pay their own way and create jobs in communities that actually vote to host them. Democrats are blocking consumer-first solutions and standing in the way of any real protection for families,” said NRSC National Press Secretary Bernadette Breslin.
The overwhelming majority of Americans prefer a Republican candidate who requires data centers to pay for their own power, water, and other utilities in communities that approve it by local vote.
Conversely, voters oppose a Democratic candidate who wants to stop data center construction altogether, risking America falling behind China in the AI race.
Husted’s Ratepayer Protection Act would ensure data centers cover the costs of the generation and infrastructure they require—meaning no price hikes for families or ratepayers.
