A new report reveals Mallory McMorrow, Abdul El-Sayed, and Rep. Haley Stevens, who are fighting in a messy primary for Michigan’s open Senate seat, support Medicare for All and a public option which would destroy the state’s 35 rural hospitals.
“Democrats are once again showing they don’t care about Michigan families or the thousands of jobs they’re threatening with their radical healthcare schemes,” said NRSC Regional Press Secretary Nick Puglia.
Medicare for All and a public option would decimate Michigan’s rural hospitals:
…
Many experts have said Medicare for All and a public option may force the closure of their rural hospitals, especially for the Wolverine State’s 35 rural hospitals.
…
Hospital administrators have said that Medicare for All and other single-payer healthcare systems would close hospitals, or even scale back services, amenities, and staff.
…
“We absolutely need to propose legislation to provide Medicare for All,” [Stevens] said during a Democrat candidate forum in 2018 for Michigan’s 11th congressional district.
…
“That’s why I’m fighting to guarantee health insurance as a right for everyone,” El-Sayed wrote.
…
McMorrow favors a public option.
