Washington, D.C. – Democrats are trying to remove the prohibition on providing an expanded child tax credit to illegal immigrants. Eliminating this prohibition would pay illegal immigrants $10.5 billion:

Real Clear Politics: In an analysis conducted in October, my colleague Karen Zeigler and I estimated that illegal immigrants with U.S.-born children would receive $8.2 billion from the new CTC. However, we had assumed that the new program, like the old ACTC, would require children claimed as dependents to have Social Security numbers (SSNs).  But reconciliation (page 1452, line 14) would permanently repeal this requirement.

Higher taxes for middle-class families. Raging inflation. Lower taxes for millionaires and billionaires in blue states. Taxpayer-funded payouts to illegal immigrants. This is the Democrats’ so-called “Build Back Better” agenda.

Earlier this month, President Biden said claims about payments to illegal immigrants separated at the border were “garbage.”  However, it was the President’s protestations that were actually garbage.

In fact, not only will illegal immigrants be eligible for the previously mentioned benefits, but illegal immigrants who broke U.S. laws will also be eligible for compensation, according to today’s testimony from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:

“We recently launched a website where families who were indeed separated can register for relief. We are working very closely with counsel for the families. We are working with the government, the nations of origin to accelerate the provision of passports for parents who do indeed want to come here.”

As American families of all backgrounds struggle in the Biden economy, the U.S. government wants to cut billions of dollars worth of checks to illegal immigrants, a fact that will likely not sit well in battleground states. Do vulnerable Democrats like Maggie Hassan, Raphael Warnock, Mark Kelly, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Michael Bennet agree with this misguided policy? Do Senate hopefuls in the House, like Val Demings, Tim Ryan, and Conor Lamb, agree?
