The ad is part of a broader national security campaign that will run in five states including Missouri. The ads will be featured on YouTube and Facebook.
The ad emphasizes Kander’s support for President Obama’s calls to close the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay and bring terrorists to American soil.
Even though Congress voted in a bipartisan manner to prohibit closing Guantanamo Bay and to stop the transfer of detainees, Jason Kander went on the record in support of President Obama’s dangerous and misguided campaign promise. As a state representative, Kander voted against a resolution that strongly urged Congress to “reject any asylum, containment, transport, imprisonment, or state medical care of any suspected terrorists” released from Guantanamo, and also voted against urging Congress not to send Guantanamo detainees to Missouri or transport them through the state.
Don’t be fooled by Kander’s politically convenient flip-flops: he supports Obama on Guantanamo, plain and simple.
