Do-Nothing Democrat Senator Joe Donnelly has woken from his nap to mount a strange effort to shift blame for Obamacare’s failings away from himself and his fellow Democrats.
In a floor speech yesterday, Donnelly blamed the White House for creating “chaos” in the health care market. But it’s clear to anyone paying attention that Obamacare had thrown our health care system into chaos long before President Trump won Indiana by 19 points last November. Between 2013 and 2017, individual market premiums in Indiana increased by an average of 74%. And last fall, four major insurers pulled out of the Indiana marketplace, causing 68,000 Hoosiers to lose their health insurance. Someone should remind Joe Donnelly that he and his Democrat colleagues were the ones who rammed Obamacare through Congress.
“Obamacare has been a disaster for Indiana, causing premiums to spike and tens of thousands to lose coverage, and the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of Joe Donnelly and his fellow Democrats,” said NRSC Spokesman Bob Salera. “Instead of playing partisan games and grandstanding on the Senate floor, Joe Donnelly should offer solutions to fix the damage his Obamacare has done to our health care system.”
