Today, the Colorado Independent Ethics Commission voted 5-0 to issue a subpoena to compel John Hickenlooper to testify in the June 4th hearing about his use of corporate-paid private jets and a Maserati limo while he was Governor. Hickenlooper was refusing to testify due to “health guidelines” that prevent him from being with his lawyer in-person for the virtual format, but the same guidelines did not apply for the film crew that recently recorded a new TV ad at his home. Hickenlooper is still threatening to take the Commission to court.
“Hickenlooper and his $525/hour taxpayer-funded lawyer spent last week arguing they were entitled to more than what Colorado’s own criminal courts have adapted to,” said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. “It’s that out-of-touch disregard that landed Joyride John with these ethics allegations in the first place. Assuming Hickenlooper doesn’t spend this week dodging the subpoena, Coloradans will finally get answers about the free private jet trips and Maserati limo ride he accepted in violation of the state constitution.”
The NRSC has offered to send Hickenlooper a Virtual Ethics Hearing Starter Pack with all the essentials he needs to participate.
