Dan Osborn’s extensive ties to Democrats grow, complicating independent Senate bid

…[Dan] Osborn’s ties to Democrats from across the country go further than when a Bernie Sanders supporter helped launch “Conservatives for Dan [Osborn]” and he hired an anti-cop staffer who attended an anti-police rally that featured severed pig heads.
Osborn’s wife is being paid by both Osborn’s campaign and by that of a Democratic Senate candidate in Iowa, campaign finance records obtained by the Reporter show. Osborn’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment.
FEC records show that Nathan Sage, a Democrat running for Senate in Iowa, paid Osborn’s wife’s company over $10,000. Republicans are using the finance revelations to tie Dan Osborn to Democrats from across the country.
“Dan Osborn is a fake Independent backed and funded by Democrats,” Nick Puglia, the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) Regional Press Secretary, told the Reporter. “It’s no surprise his wife is working for far-left Democrat Senate campaigns and Democrat consulting firms.”
While Osborn’s financial and biographical ties to Democrats were mostly hidden until the home stretch of his campaign in 2024, they are emerging far earlier this time. In one example, a “marginally Boston-based but mainly itinerant duo” of Bernie Sanders alums “helped recruit and guide several high-profile candidates [including] Navy veteran and mechanic Dan Osborn,” as Politico reported.
