Washington, D.C. – In three straight polls, Maggie Hassan’s lead now falls within the margin of error over General Don Bolduc.

To revive her chances, she has called in failed presidential candidate, Sen. Cory Booker from New Jersey. Why? That much is unclear. He dropped out of the presidential race a month before the New Hampshire primary.

What’s even more unclear is why, when inflation and gas prices remain top issues for Granite Staters, Maggie Hassan wants to align herself with one of the most liberal Senators on the economy and energy:

  • Booker voted for President Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act, despite warnings that it would worsen inflation. Since then, inflation hit its highest level in 40 years.
  • In March 2021, Booker voted against an amendment to the American Rescue Plan that would limit funds to “necessary expenditures” during the public health emergency.
  • In August 2021, Booker voted against an amendment to create a point of order against any net increases to federal spending when inflation increased above three percent.
  • Looking out for his wealth blue state donors, Booker described eliminating a $600 billion tax break to wealthy earners in high-tax states as “taking a baseball bat to the knees of our economy.”
  • Booker was an original co-sponsor of the Senate version of AOC’s “Green New Deal.”
  • Booker has worked to “ban oil drilling off of New Jersey’s coastline.”
  • In 2015, Booker urged NOAA administrator Dr. Kathryn Sullivan to “deny four seismic survey applications for oil and gas exploration in the Atlantic Ocean.

Statement from NRSC Spokesman T.W. Arrighi: “You can’t get more out of touch than Maggie Hassan.  In some ways, this makes sense because she is never in the state. But to think that Cory Booker is going to convince Granite Staters that you aren’t a liberal who spent us into record inflation and suffocated American energy production, you are wildly mistaken. Maggie Hassan has forgotten about the people of New Hampshire and that’s why Don Bolduc will be replacing her next Congress.”
