Washington, D.C. – In 2019, then-presidential candidate Tim Ryan of Ohio joined Bill Maher to talk about his plans for the future of the country, particularly his home state.

Ohio is home to a robust coal industry, employing 33,000+ Ohioans and providing over 69% of the state’s electricity. Yet, during the interview with Maher, Ryan claimed he plans to tell the “coal people” he’s doing away with their jobs.

Now, he’s running for Senate in Ohio. We look forward to watching him try to defend the positions he took while running to the Left in the presidential primary.

Statement from NRSC Spokeswoman Lizzie Litzow: “Tim Ryan has tried to pass himself off as a champion for the working class but continues to be out of touch with hardworking Ohioans. Proposing the destruction of over 33,000 Ohio jobs in an industry that provides over 69% of the state’s electricity to pander to radical liberal activists will come back to bite him next year.”
