This week, Feingold claimed Progressives United’s purpose was not to directly contribute to candidates. However, in 2011 Feingold said Progressives United would “support candidates directly.” Another week and another lie from career politician Russ Feingold.

Also it is interesting that Mr. Campaign Finance Reform is bragging about how much money he raised this quarter… thought he wanted to get money out of politics?

BACKGROUND:

In A July 2015 Interview With The Shepherd Express, Feingold Said Progressives United Was Not Created “To Give Direct Contributions” To Candidates. FEINGOLD: “The fact is that the Progressives United organization, which I founded, was an excellent organization that did exactly what it was supposed to do. Those who are claiming it didn’t are intentionally disregarding its purpose. What they’re saying is that we didn’t give enough money to candidates. That wasn’t its main purpose, to give direct contributions. If that’s all it was, a way to funnel contributions to one organization or to candidates, I wouldn’t have had any interest in it.” (Louis Fortis and Lisa Kiser, “Russ Feingold Looks Ahead To 2016, Shepherd Express, 7/1/15)

Feingold Previously Said Progressives United Would “Support Candidates Directly”

In February 2011, Feingold Claimed That Progressives United Was Going To Directly “Support Candidates” Who Fight To Overturn Citizens United

VIDEO: Feingold Said Progressives United Was Going “To Support Candidates” Who Fight To Overturn Citizens United. FEINGOLD: “So, Progressives United is actually people all over the state of Wisconsin and all over the country coming together to fight for the rights of individuals in the political process and to not allow corporations to have those exact same rights. So, we’re going to fight this decision. We’re going to try to overturn the decision. We’re going to try to support candidates that fight the implications of it — from the oil companies to the financial benefits that have been given to Wall Street.” (MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show", 2/16/11)

· VIDEO: Feingold: “Obviously, We’re Going To Try To Support Candidates Directly That Are Committed To These Progressive Principles.” MADDOW: “Mr. Feingold, let me just ask one last question about Progressives United. If people join the group, what should they expect? Is this a membership organization? Is this a meet up, Move On style, get out, meet your fellow progressives and get out there and demonstrate organization? What exactly are you going to use in terms of tactics?” FEINGOLD: “All of the above. Obviously, we’re going to try to support candidates directly that are committed to these progressive principles. We’re going to try to urge people that are in office right now to do things like support the Disclose Act, to try to make sure that this information about these contributions come out.” (MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show", 2/16/11)
