This morning, the Washington Post ripped apart Bill Nelson’s cryptic claim that Russia already penetrated some Florida voter registration systems, giving him FOUR Pinocchios.

The Washington Post fact checker writes, “Not a single speck of evidence backs him up, and we have serious doubts whether the classified information he cited even exists.”

And goes on to say, “Nelson misquoted his own letter from July 2 several times (it made no mention of an ongoing breach) and inaccurately said Burr, Rubio and Warner reaffirmed his assertion that Russia has access to Florida voters’ records.”

“As doubts and questions continue to pile up about Bill Nelson’s explosive claim, it’s clear that Nelson’s only option is to provide a thorough explanation about his allegation,” said Camille Gallo, NRSC Spokesperson. “Nelson has been dodging questions for too long and Floridians deserve an answer: did he recklessly expose classified information to the press instead of alerting state election officials or is he just making up this very serious accusation?”
